RYA/World Sailing Offshore Safety Course  

City Sailing offers this as a package of RYA Sea Survival (STCW Sea Survival is not accepted), Boatmaster Fire Awareness and the other elements of the World Sailing Offshore Safety Course.

Duration 2 Days (or 2 evenings and a day).

Training for recreational and racing skippers and crews who will encounter rough weather and problems at sea.

At the end of the course you will have a good knowledge of the safety equipment carried on small boats and the seamanship techniques needed to survive at sea.

The certificate awarded conforms with the eligibility requirements of section 6.01 of the World Sailing Special Regulations for category 0, 1 and some category 2 offshore races.

The regulations require:

6.01 At least 30% but not fewer than two members of a crew, including the skipper shall have undertaken training within the five years before the start of the race in both 6.02 topics for theoretical sessions, and
6.03 topics which include practical, hands-on sessions.
