Plastic Fishing

Come Plastic Fishing.

This is an initiative we (City Sailing) have been at since the very first meeting at Canary Wharf College when we decided a recycled plastic boat to use in the London Docks to collect plastic was going to be our goal.

After nine months we did it and Poly-Mer was Launched and NOW you can get on her with your school or company.

We can accommodate up to 35 people per trip, and for 65 people we can run two trips back to back

Typical itinerary

1pm: Arrival at Docklands Sailing & Watersports Centre
1:15: Welcome and introductory talks
1:45: Safety briefing
2:00: Plastic Fishing
3:00: Sorting the plastic on-shore with ‘Plastic Pirates’ (pupils from nearby Canary Wharf College)
3:15: Debrief
3:30: Sailing Centre bar opens!

The talk can be tailored to your audience. We will generally give an overview of the project and the history of our recycled plastic boat, Poly-Mer, explaining why it is important and what the situation on the Thames and London waterways is. We can also talk more generally about marine plastic and other recycling and circular economy-related topics if you like.

Enjoy the docks and save the planet in one afternoon!
